Welcome dear friends! I hope you all are enjoying lovely Autumn weather as we have this weekend. It is sunny and cool during the day and chilly at night. I love this time of year, it is so nice after a long hot and humid summer. We spend as much time out of doors as we can. I have planted swiss chard, kale, broccoli, green onions, arugula, beets, carrots, spinach, garden peas and english daisies from seed. Most everything has sprouted and the lettuces I planted a few weeks ago are doing well. I am going to plant more seeds every two weeks so we will (hopefully) have a continuous supply through the winter.
I wanted to show the squirrel quilt I just finished making. I used the image dear Clarice provided at her lovely Storybook Woods blog. You can find the pattern here. Thank you for sharing Clarice!

Using a light box I traced the squirrel on tea-dyed muslin, embroidered and framed it with some fall fabric. He is so cute!

Speaking of cute, my dear husband took this photo of sweet Pearl the poodle today, who has been enjoying spending her time out of doors too, chasing bees and squirrels!

I have been planting pansies and johnny jump-ups. I love their cheerful faces and pretty colors.

My hanging basket has been vacant for some time, so it was nice to fill it with these pretty flowers.

A pretty victoria sage I planted last year.

And a pretty pink salvia which has been reseeding and popped up in a crack near the stone flower bed and is doing well!

My lamb's ear is growing well and spreading out nicely. I may dig up some to plant in the garden out back. I planted a few mums, snapdragons and pansies here.

I also planted a few snapdragons in the stone flower bed. Remember you may click on my photos to enlarge them if you like.
Thank you so much for visiting my Rose Cottage by the Lake! I appreciate each of you coming by and taking time to leave such kind comments! Each one is a blessing to me and brings me joy! Isn't it wonderful what a kind word does for someone? Truly, Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. Proverbs 16:24
I do hope each of you have a wonderful and happy week ahead. Take time to bake some pumpkin bread or cookies and a pot of tea to enjoy with your loved ones. This is the perfect time of year for eating out of doors!
Too often we under estimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have a potential to turn a life around.

Hi Paula, Blessings to you this fine autumn day. What a lovely post-I'm a quilter so loved seeing your quilt. Also appreciated your flowers and talk of the garden-although we don't have snow yet all my flowers are dying away for the season. Oh well, love seeing the snow up in the Rockies.
Have a wonderful week.
