In the Laundry Room

Hello dear friends! I am so glad you stopped by my Rose Cottage to visit me! I hope you all are doing well and keeping warm. We are having quite a cold snap here, but it should be warming up a little by the end of the week.

I redecorated my laundry room a bit after seeing dear Lady Laurie's delightful laundry room at her lovely Rose Cottage. I loved her idea of putting up a "clothesline" for vintage hankies. I have quite a few of them that I have collected through the years so I was inspired to duplicate her idea!

We would like to paint the cabinets white to brighten up this room, and maybe a nice shade of pink on the walls!

I love vintage hankies! They are so soft and the colors are so cheerful. Just think of a time when all ladies carried one of these hankies with them. I am sure they were wearing a lovely hat with a purse and shoes to match!

A few months ago I made new curtains for the laundry room using a fabric I had in my stash for some years. It is a beautiful piece of fabric, but I was never sure what to make with it. I was so happy to find there was enough yardage to make two curtain panels (you can just see the one in the photo). I also had enough of this lovely vintage crochet to embellish the top of both curtain panels, what a blessing!

My dear sweet husband is going to make a shelf to go above the window for me to display a few things on it. You may enlarge the photo, if you like, to see the pretty crochet, all of my photos are clickable!

Thank you so much for taking time to visit and peek into my laundry room. Laurie and I also have the same sign "A Busy Day in Dollville." You can view more of Bessie Pease Gutmann's beautiful and charming artwork by visiting here. I would like to thank each of you for all the kind, sweet and encouraging comments you leave for me to enjoy! May the Lord bless each of you, your dear ones and your homes with His love and peace!

Have regular hours for work and play; make each day both useful and pleasant, and prove that you understand the worth of time by employing it well. Then youth will be delightful, old age will bring few regrets, and life will become a beautiful success.

Hello sweet one!
I love your laundry room it's so pretty Paula!! The hankies are just precious, I have some too tucked away in a drawer but this is wonderful to be able to display them! And your curtains are ADORABLE!!! You are such a wonderful seamstress, the vintage lace is a perfect touch to that beautiful fabric! I'm trying to come up with some curtains for my sitting room and you have so inspired me to use what I have instead of just keeping stashed away.
I love the Little Women quote too! Thank you for sharing!!
And that Bessie picture you have is one of my absolute favorites, I've always dreamed of using it in the same way you have, funny to see my "dream" in your sweet cottage, kindred spirits indeed!!
xoxox Thank you for sharing your world my sweet friend!!

Dear Paula,

I'm so glad you were able to decorate your laundry room so beautifully-vintage hankies are just special. The fabric for the curtains complements them so well.

And your quote on the end of one of my very favorites of Louisa May Alcott's; so much wisdom for an unmarried lady!

Love,

Marqueta

Paula,

Your laundry room curtains are lovely with the delicate crochet edging along the top!

What a sweet countertop you have with all those little items on display -- if I were to do that, I'd have to move them from time to time to use the counter as I don't have an overabundance of space :o)

I couldn't believe the number of different birds that have been st Rose Cottage ... WOW!

Blessings!

Dear Paula,
Your laundry room is just beautiful!!! ;)
Isn't it fun to decorate and transform a plain and ordinary place into a lovely serene oasis?!
Your curtains are so lovely as well as your antique china plates and sweet precious hankies.
I absolutely love hankies as well, it is indeed to bad that ladies today have considered them a lost art. I feel very blessed to know you Paula, and count it a joy to have met such a like-minded kindred spirit!! ;)

Love & Blessings in Christ,
Miss Jen

P.S.
I also loved your quote and scripture! ;)

Hi Paula!
Your laundry room is beautiful! So full of light and little lovelies here and there!
Mine, unfortunately, is out in the cold, dark garage. But I wont complain. I don't have to scrub on a board, or boil in a wash tub on the wood stove. Washing these days is no chore at all. Just pop the dirties into the washer, add a little store bought detergent, close the lid and push a button. In a short amount of time ~vwa-lah~ my clothes are washed, rinsed and spun dry at no physical cost to me! They can be popped into the handy dryer to reappear dry and relatively free from wrinkles or (in season) hung out on the line to dry in the lovely sunshine! So, I could say my summer laundry room is decorated with lots of light and little lovelies here and there, also! And, the artwork is painted by God. What more could a girl ask for! *BIG smile*

Hi Paula,
Come over and take a look at the cute bunny I found today at our local tea room. You could dress one up like it for your porch.

Hi dearest Paula!

I love your laundry room! How lucky you are to have such a room. My washer and dryer are in the garage and there's not much I can do to pretty it up :-). The vintage hankies on the little clothes line are so cute and I love the curtains too! It all looks so pretty and it must make doing laundry less of a chore!

What lovely fun!--to have a peek at your sweet and oh,so, pretty laundry room! The fabric that you made your curtains from is perfect! and again--so pretty! And to think that you made them yourself! I just love it! The hanging hankies is pure delight--I might have to borrow that idea for some of mine to display in my art room.
Have a wonderful week, Dear Paula!
Thanks so much for the kind words left at the cabin!
God's Blessings to You!

I have a question that maybe you addressed and I missed. Do you have a farm sink in your laundry room. It is hard to tell, but it looks like you might. I know this room gets used a lot and I am glad you have made it so charming (the hankies are sooo darn cute). I am sure it must help you when doing all that laundry. Love Clarice
