Welcome sweet friends! I hope you all are doing well and having a good week! Thank you for stopping by for a visit. Would you like to go into the garden with me? Oh good! I am so glad you will join me, but first I must show you the new wreath I made. I am looking forward to spring and my wreath was quite empty after Christmas, so I decided to brighten up our front porch with some pretty pink roses. I found these at Hobby Lobby for 50% off! I was so excited.

I also found this sweet little bunny at Hobby Lobby, for 50% off too!

These beautiful primroses were just $1 each at Lowes. They had been over-watered and the poor things were quite soaked, so they marked them down. What a blessing! I was thanking the Lord for all my pretty primroses!

I planted a few in these clay pots.

These I purchased already planted.

I just love primroses! They are so pretty and cheerful! Well, let's go to the back garden shall we?

Here I am planting more primroses to add some color near the garden gate.

I planted these in the ground in front of the fence. My sweet husband went back to Lowes and brought home a few more yesterday. I also planted them along the fence and will take a photo soon to share with you.

Now that all the primroses are planted let's see what is growing in the vegetable garden. In the photo above you can see where I planted the blueberry bushes, right under the clay pots. I placed those there so I would not poke my eye on the stakes! I need to use some smaller pots, but these will do for now.
In the bed behind this one you can see the parsley, which we have been enjoying, and the kale is growing well too. The peas and beets have been slowing growing. I thinned the carrots the other day, and in another bed we have been enjoying the arugula. The chard has been slowly growing too. We have had quite a bit of cold weather with freezing temperatures at night, but thankfully everything has survived. This past weekend we enjoyed very spring like weather, in the low 70's!

We have several beds that are all ready for planting.

Here are the beautiful heirloom lettuces we have been enjoying. They taste incredible and so fresh. I love being able to pick food from my own garden!

I make a simple salad using our lettuce and arugula with organic olive oil, olives, apple cider vinegar, crispy walnuts and raw goat milk cheese.

I began a sourdough starter using Maryjane's sourdough recipe in the current issue of her magazine and made bread. I toasted some of it with butter and put it on top of my husband's and son's salad.

My sweet husband brought home a few more antique finds. He is going to paint this chair pink, and I think I will use it for a plant stand. He also found a vintage sewing box and two old pin cushions. I will share a photo of those soon, and some projects I have been working on.
Thank you so much for taking time to visit. I appreciate all the sweet and encouraging comments that each of you leave for me. I feel so very blessed by your kindness! I pray you all will have a good and happy week! May the Lord bless you in all your home-keeping endeavors and fill your heart with joy and peace!
Bountiful Primroses,
With outspread heart that needs the rough leaves' care.

What a LOVELY garden! I am longing for a garden so very much. The high today was about 44 I believe. I love your little chair! I can't wait to see it in pink. I love your beautiful white skirt you are wearing.

Dear Paula,
I just love your beautiful Rose wreath! You did a great job! Your front porch looks so welcoming with the ivy and birdhouses and rabbit along with the wreath. What a find (!) to purchase those sweet primrose for a song. They look just perfect on your porch. You look so lovely as always in your garden. I love the new profile photo of you and Pearl too! I always love to see what is growing in your garden. That salad looks delicious and I am going to have to read my Mary Jane magazine to find out about that starter. I have been looking for a good one! That chair is just too sweet! Your husband is so kind to bring you such treasures! Thank you so much for sharing a piece of your beautiful world!
Blessings,

Hello, dear Paula ~
Thank you for taking us out to your lovely garden. It is so neat and tidy! Mine is in quite a disarray. But the chickens love it that way! :~}
The primroses are sweet! I will get some soon to plant in the three big pots we have in front of the house to announce spring's arrival.
Do I see "Forellenschluss"(flashy trouts back)lettuce? My favorite!
Such lovely weather you are having. My plan for the day was to go clean out the overgrown greenhouse. Bindweed and wild morning glory have run amuck in there! But guess what? Today it is snowing! I will have to be patient for a little while longer, I guess. I really don't mind the snow. We don't seem to get overmuch most winters. I love the peace that settles all around with the falling snow. I can just hear God whispering,"Hush. Be still and know that I am God." Ps. 46:10
(p.s. I got your package sent today. Sorry it took so long ~ haven't ventured out after being ill until today. Hope you get it by Valentines Day!)
You are lovely in the garden! I love your beautiful home! I know we are all so ready for Spring. Wish I had a Hobby Lobby near by!
PS The high chair would be so cute in the kitchen with a baby doll in it! I love it as it is!
I wanted to say you have a beautiful blog here, and I just love primroses! I envisioned one year blanketing a portion of a semi-wooded area in our yard with primroses... but the slugs got to them:( The amazing thing was that for years the primroses came back in that spot, though I rarely got a flower, just healthy leaves.
Your wreath is also very beautiful! Thank you for sharing.
Dear Paula,
What LOVLEY musings!! ;)
Your wreath is just beautiful...such a display of feminine loveliness!! Roses are one of my favorite flowers as well, and I love the twig you used. How exciting and delightful it is to find great deals! Your garden and primroses are just wonderful, and your fresh home made salad looks quite scrumptious, also. There is nothing like fresh lettuce greens...is there?! It was also a joy to see you with shovel in hand at your garden gate!! How graceful and feminine you look in your shawl and skirt! ;) It is such a joy and blessing to meet others who dress so feminine on a daily basis. I wear skirts and dresses all the time and love it!! Well, dear friend, hope you had a wonderful day. ;) Thanks for giving all of us a peep into your lovely garden.
Love & Blessings,
Miss Jen
P.S.
I just love your antique chair, as well! How kind of your husband to purchase it for you, what a blessing. ;)
Oh Paula! Just look at your vegetables, I'm so envious. Your entire garden is a delight. I must take a quick flight over and pick up some of those wonderful primroses, such a bargain at $1. I was admiring some today in our local store and they were 4 times that amount. I know you like my little facts so I will pass on this one. In England 19 April is known as 'Primrose Day'. It was started in 1881 by Queen Victoria after she laid primroses on the grave of her favourite Prime Minister (Benjamin Disraeli). Every year on that day people would wear a primrose in their buttonhole in memory of him. They no longer do this but its a nice tradition don't you think. Such a delicate flower. One more thing... great idea having upturned pots on stakes to keep your eyes safe. I was visiting a garden last year that had used see shells (I use old thimbles!!!) You have made me want to start gardening but its still too cold and wet and here I'm afraid. Happy digging, love Eli
Dear Paula,
What a lovely garden tour! Your lettuce is so beautiful. I'm glad that your greens and cool crops are doing well; how blessed to be able to have your own food year-round!
Primroses are such a sweet, old-fashioned flower; we love them but always kill them in our dry desert weather!
Love,
Marqueta
What a lovely blog you have Paula. I found you through Claudia @ teeny tiny cabin. Your wreath and front porch look so pretty!
Dear Paula, your wreath turned out beautiful (I want one) I love the different shades of pink you used. It really makes your door stands out. Your garden is so lovely and green. It is still a it too cold to plant here, We had some snow yesterday. But soon we can plant the primroses and peas. Your lettuce and kale looks yummy. I have been wanting to make my own apple cider vinegar, have you made your own before ??? Great chair, it will look perfect in pink. Adam always picks up the best finds. Love Clarice
PS. LOVE your shawl !!!
Dear Paula your door wreath is beautiful and your garden is wonderful. It is still so cold and damp here but spring is around the corner which is a lovely thought.
I would like to say thank you for leaving such lovely comments for me to read on my blog. You are always very kind and thoughtful with what you say and I appreciate it very much.

The wreath of roses is just beautiful and all those primroses for a song!!
For my first birthday celebration after our marriage, my husband gave me a gift and a lovely primrose which really brightened my kitchen on a wintry day :o)
Thanks for giving us a glimpse of your neat and tidy garden!
Blessings!
Your garden and cottage are truly inspiring! Thank you for sharing :)
Coming here is always so refreshing! I do the same with my sticks in the garden - put pots on top. I'm inspired by all that you have growing! I started making over my raised beds last fall so I don't have anything but cabbage planted in one. But soon it'll be time to go out and get everything ready for spring.
Love the wreath that you did and all your thrifty finds! I love Hobby Lobby - I could go there everyday and find something new!
Lucky find at Lowes! They are good about marking down their plants. I never find any marked down plants at Home Depot. Primroses come in so many wonderful colors - it's amazing really. I didn't plant any outside, but I bought a few for indoors.
I'm looking forward to seeing more of your garden!
Manuela
Hello Dear Friend! As usual, I was inspired by your garden! I to, love primroses, and am delighted that two of the ones I planted last spring have never gone dormant, and are begining to bloom! Don't you just love gardening in the south????
Your primroses are so lovely, as are you!
Sharon
Hi Paula!
Thank you so much for your comments on Henty and Ballantyne! I had used the inter-library loan a lot, but I didn't even think of it for these books. I will look into that directly.
I really like your wreath. You are busy with something nice all the time; that's the best way to live, I think! You never get bored because there is always something nice to do!
Have a nice week!

Your front door is so welcoming. The rose wreath is so charming and all the white garden items about, lovely.
You are definetly a kindred spirit...seeing you in your gardens dressed in a long flowing lacey white skirt planting primroses, that is exactly me. I love to wear skirts and dresses, even while gardening.
Your gardens are a delight!
