Hello dear friends! Thank you for stopping by for a visit. It is quite hot at our Rose Cottage! My sweet son and I have wanted to eat outside on our new garden furniture, but it has been entirely too hot for that, so we decided to enjoy lunch in our sun porch that affords a nice view of our veggie garden.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch, all organic of course! A salad with romaine lettuce, tomatoes and raw milk cheese with my homemade yogurt dressing. I make homemade yogurt with organic heavy cream, and use it on just about everything. I take a couple of dollops, with a drizzle of olive oil, add sea salt, black pepper and a little cayenne pepper to make a wonderful, creamy salad dressing. You could add any herbs that you like as well.

My sweet son is patiently waiting to begin our meal.

We also enjoyed organic rose hip tea, served in the beautiful pressed glass pitcher my dear, sweet friend Madai gave to me, blueberry muffins made with almond flour and organic strawberries.

My son found this fellow in our yard and gave him a strawberry. He discovered the turtle was quite stuck, so he freed him and Mr. Turtle left without eating the strawberry! Hopefully a bird found it. Now lets take a walk through the garden, shall we?

The echinacea in the front garden is growing beautifully! The butterflies and bees enjoy it so much.

My dear husband and I discovered these pretty wildflowers growing in the back, near the bayou.

A pretty dragonfly. Photo compliments of my husband.

Heirloom miniature red (soon to be) bell peppers.

A pretty pink bachelor button.

Cheerful sunflowers.

Colorful salvia.

Heirloom bachelor buttons. I planted these last year and they re-seeded. I was so happy!

A sweet strawberry... one of the few the slugs did not get to before us.

Yummy chives.

Heirloom lettuces... what was left of them bolted and went to seed in this heat.

More echinacea growing in the veggie garden.

A harvest of heirloom green beans and beets.
I hope all of you are having a lovely and happy summer, making sweet memories with dear ones. Thank you for the sweet and encouraging comments! I am very blessed to have such kind friends.

Dear Paula,
Your porch looks like such a nice place to have a light summer lunch! Your garden is looking lovely! Wow, a turtle in the backyard...that is nothing you would see here in Washington! :)
Have a wonderful day!
Blessings!

Nadine
I loved the walk through your garden. I have a very tiny garden but the lavender, hollyhocks and roses are blooming right now. It's a great time of year. Linda
You sure do have a beautiful sun porch! Your salads looked yummy and I'm wishing I had bought the mixed salad greens at the store today.
I don't think the slugs would have had a chance with those strawberries if you had my 5 yr old little boy around! hehehe He just loves strawberries. We bought some today just for him! lol
God Bless!

Oh Paula, I can just picture us sitting in your sunroom having tea. It looks wonderful. You must be so happy how it turned out. How lovely when it is too hot to go outside, to be able to sit there and still enjoy your amazing garden. Your garden is looking sooo good and wow, look all you are able to harvest from it. What a blessing. It must so such a satisfaction to sit down to a meal for your own harvest. By the tell “the boy” he is as handsome as ever xoxox Clarice
Dear Paula,
It's always fun to stop by and see what's growing in your garden! And your boy is growing up so fast, too. The lunch looks lovely; raw cheese would be so yum, and the dressing sounds nice and light.
The turtle reminds me of the turtles I had as a child; mine came from the pet store, though, since we aren't blessed with wild ones!
I hope the heat lets up for you soon~how nice to have your porch to feel like you're still outside while being cool.
Love,

The slugs have eaten most of our strawberries too. boo hoo. We've been sprinkling organic slug killer on them, which helps. Our cherry tomatoes are turning red and we are nibbling on a few. We've been eating zuchini and white squash too from our gardens. Our sunflowers and wildflowers are blooming too. Loveliness.
